FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN

Being a parent can be overwhelming. There are so many things to think about, to care about. Not only have you been unceremoniously [does pain and pushing count as a ceremony?] dumped into a situation without a handbook, extensive training, and a parachute, you now have another life to care for. This new being depends on you for everything and your life no longer belongs to you alone.

On the other hand, you were chosen to parent this child. You, out of the billions of people on this earth, are the one this little baby needs most in this world. You are the one most suited to love this child. What a privilege and honor to know that God trusts you to do this magnificent job.

This isn't a handbook [not even close!] but it is a directory of the posts that I have put together surrounding children, in particular babies. I will continue to add to it as my own child grows. My hope is that you find some comfort in knowing that others have been where you are. May you find tools to parent your child in the best possible way. May you find peace in knowing you have already been trusted with this life. Your job now is to simply enjoy and love your child. Through your love your child will thrive.

May blessings abound on this wonderful journey we call parenting!

[SUPPLEMENTS]

You can begin giving your baby a vitamin D supplement right away. Drops are popular however powdered capsules seem to be higher in quality. You can mix with breastmilk, place a little directly on your nipple prior to nursing, or add to a bottle.

Probiotics are also really important to begin early on. Choose a high quality probiotic that contains Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus acidophilus as the two primary ingredients. Spread the dosage out throughout the day so your baby's gut isn't overrun with the added bacteria. Too much [even of a good thing] at one time can lead to gastrointestinal distress. Some manufacturer's have products specific to infants and children.

Of course, it is important to have your child's pediatrician give their approval on any supplements you give your child..
